In a city like Barcelona it can be overwhelming to decide what to tackle first when so many fantastic sights are on offer.
Generally I figure starting with your stomach is a safe bet and having heard about the Mercat de Sant Josep de la Boqueria (or La Boqueria for short) from a friend I decided to start there- if the pictures don’t make it obvious, I wasn’t disappointed.
With rainbow colours coming from every direction as displays of fruit jump out at you for only a few euro, this is the place to visit for a healthy snack fix.
The sweet tooth isn’t neglected either though with chocolate and candy goodness to be found too.
Every day I was in the city I would pass by La Rambla, the major street the market is located on for a fresh smoothie.
The markets are definitely a massive attraction for tourists and locals alike so it’s usually pretty crowded.
If you visit around lunch time there’s stalls selling hearty sized meals like this one here which not only had all of this delicious salad but underneath was a burrito style wrap too – it was no small feat trying to finish it all.
There’s stalls of all descriptions here from jamon/meats to pastries and despite its popularity I think La Boqueria is certainly worth a visit when you’re feeling peckish!
