Air Asia is one of the most frequent airlines in and out of my home city of Perth – there’s multiple flights to Bali with the carrier each day in addition to a few to Kuala Lumpur also.
However, my first time flying with Air Asia was actually domestically within Malaysia from Kuala Lumpur to Kota Bharu which took one hour.
Air Asia has their own modern airport (KLIA2) not far out of Kuala Lumpur and you can take a bus for 11RM (3 USD) directly there from KL Sentral station but allow for traffic and a travel time of one hour.
Check in was simple, there are self service kiosks are then you simply drop your bag off at a counter should you need to check any luggage.
There was no service on a short flight but since Air Asia is a low cost carrier, even on the longer journeys you would need to of course purchase your own meals and drinks.
My plane – there was too many people walking on the tarmac to get a good shot!
The service was punctual and smooth – if I had to complain about one thing it would be that I got put in the back row, middle seat and the legroom was probably the smallest I’ve experienced in a long time.
Otherwise, I would certainly fly with Air Asia again particularly when they have one of their awesome sales.
