Only about 40 minutes drive away from Ljubljana is the small town of Bled, famous for its stunning lake.
Panorama from Bled Castle
Bled Island is the main feature and you can take a boat ride to it. On the island there isn’t much at all but you can visit the Church of the Assumption.
Although they were setting up for a wedding (I can’t imagine many more beautiful places to get married than here!) we were still able to ring the bell inside.

There are a few ways to get to Bled from Ljubliana and some people even opt to spend a few days here however my friend and I chose to do an organised day tour with Viator.
I would recommend this tour to anyone but you could probably do the visit yourself for much less money. It was really nice to be picked up and dropped off in a private van though!
There was only two others on the tour with us and our guide was very informative.
He even took us into the Vila Bled, which has an interesting past and used to be frequented by Marshal Tito and is now a luxury hotel located right next to the lake.

Bled Castle offers up a high vantage point on the lake and is worth a visit to. It’s been around since 1004 and there’s a small museum inside.

Bled is also known for its cream cakes and trying one whilst here is almost a necessity. Do so while taking in the views with a coffee and enjoy!
